CAF and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation have entered into a partnership to promote sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean. The agreement will focus on several key areas, including refugees and migration, early childhood development, institutional capacity-building, and economic and social inclusion.

The collaboration aims to explore joint projects, knowledge exchange, capacity-building programs, and pilot initiatives. Specific efforts will support migrants and refugees in Ecuador and Colombia. The partnership also plans to enhance institutional innovation through specialized training and facilitate knowledge transfer for improved policymaking.

Sergio Díaz-Granados, Executive President of CAF, stated: "This agreement with the Hilton Foundation reinforces our commitment to addressing critical challenges in Latin America and the Caribbean, particularly in human mobility and inclusive development. By combining our expertise and resources, we can create more opportunities for vulnerable populations while fostering sustainable growth across the region."

The partnership aligns with CAF’s Strategic Framework on International Human Mobility. This framework adopts a comprehensive approach covering all phases of migration—emigration, immigration, transit, and return—and focuses on five pillars: supporting governments at various levels; improving access to essential services; strengthening data systems for informed policymaking; promoting integration between migrant communities and host communities; creating economic opportunities for displaced populations.

Peter Laugharn, President and CEO of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation remarked: “We are thrilled to partner with CAF to support the sustainable and inclusive development of migrant and host communities in Colombia and Ecuador. This new collaboration seeks to leverage our institutions’ investments, including our direct funding to cities, to jointly improve the lives and livelihoods of migrant families and the communities hosting them.”

This initiative is consistent with the Hilton Foundation’s Refugees Initiative which focuses on integrating refugees into host communities while investing in children's healthy development. It also aims at expanding economic opportunities for parents.

Through this partnership, both organizations reaffirm their shared vision of fostering equitable development in Latin America by addressing issues like migration while enhancing resilience within institutions.
