Chilean-based shipping agent AGUNSA said it has been operating the Ingeniero Buitrago Port of Ternium-Siderar in Argentina to handle the transfer of steel since spring.
This private port serves Ternium Siderar, the largest steel manufacturer in Argentina, AGUNSA said in a recent release. AGUNSA focuses on the loading and unloading of the raw materials and steel products.
The port’s four berths, or docks, have a capacity to load and unload more than 6 million tons per year. One of the berths can simultaneously operate two Panamax vessels, which are the largest vessels that can traverse the Panama Canal, the release said.
The other berths receive general goods used for steel products and for barges with minerals.
AGUNSA handles the steel products with specialized equipment while focusing on safety and the environment.
