Petrobras has announced that Proquigel, a subsidiary of Unigel, has approved an agreement to resolve existing contractual disputes and litigation between the parties. The Board of Directors of Petrobras confirmed this decision, authorizing the signing of the agreement by May 31, 2025.
The agreement includes restoring possession of fertilizer plants (FAFENs) in Bahia and Sergipe and resuming operations by Petrobras through a bidding process for contracting Operation and Maintenance services. This will be done following governance practices and applicable internal procedures.
For the agreement to take effect, it must still be ratified by the Arbitral Tribunal.
As stated in its Business Plan 2025-2029, Petrobras aims to capture value from its activities in the Fertilizers segment through nitrogen product production and commercialization. This aligns with its oil and natural gas production chain and energy transition efforts.
