Aiming to “incubate the most innovative projects” in smart data and client-focused services in the energy sector, the EDP Starter development program recently established roots in Brazil, commencing program registration from now through July 14.
EDP Brasil, a company that works with generation, transmission, distribution, commercialization and solutions in the energy sector, said in a release it is promoting the program that strives to support the “entrepreneurial ecosystem” for early stage startups.
The program, which is managed by EDP Innovation, the innovation unit of Energias de Portugal, recently initiated the call for startups in Brazil, with special attention to customer-focused solutions for the B2B and B2C markets and the use of smart data to develop innovative solutions.
Livia Brando, who serves as area manager of innovation for EDP Brasil, said in the release the goal is to identify original projects with growth potential that can work with the energy industry.
"In this moment of intense transformation of the electric sector, the approach with startups will be essential to bring innovative solutions to the reality of large companies," Brando said in the release.
EDP is one of the few programs in Brazil focused on early startups, offering support services in various aspects of business growth, including co-working space at WeWork in Sao Paulo.
