Special Economic Area Panama Pacifico has started to construct the company’s first LEED-certified Class A office building, a move that will make the area’s international business community more competitive.
With this building, Panama Pacifico has joined the ranks of the global green-building movement. The
18,624-square-foot
building will be seven stories and have cost-savings options as well as sustainability features. It is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
“We are excited to build the first LEED-certified office building at the Panama Pacifico Special Economic Area,” Panama Pacifico Managing Director Henry Kardonski said. “The new LEED-certified building enhances the collection of commercial and industrial space we offer to companies looking to locate to one of the most attractive markets in Latin America."
The building’s sustainability features include transportation options that will provide direct access to public transportation, a reflective solar roof, high-efficiency water, bicycle parking, and high-efficiency energy systems. Natural light and natural vistas have been strategically used throughout the structure.
"Moving into a LEED-certified building can generate a higher return on investment for companies due to the increased efficiency and reduced costs of water and energy bills by as much as 40 percent,” Kardonski said.
