Peru's Aceros Arequipa honored with 'Leadership Team Competition of Excellence – 2017'

The Aceros Arequipa said it had received the gold award for the "Leadership Team Competition of Excellence – 2017" by the  Institute for Quality of the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and American Society for Quality (ASQ).

The award was presented during the closing ceremony of the recent  4th International Congress of Quality PUCP-ASQ, the company said on its website.

The jury evaluated the company team at its plant in Pisco, Peru, as well as the exhibition of the improvement project "Optimization of the Discharging and Pairing of Rods in the Laminator Train Cooling Plate No. 2" for five months before selecting the Quality Circle "The Laminators NTL" for the award.

"Working as a team and obtaining the maximum recognition in this type of events, demonstrates our great level of innovation and continuous improvement," Aceros Arequipa said on its website.

Aceros Arequipa was founded in 1964 in Arequipa, Peru. The second plant was opened in 1983 in Pisco. After merging with Laminadora del Pacifico SA in 1987, the firm became the main supplier of steel products in Peru. The company became Aceros Arequipa Corporation SA after the acquisition of Aceros Calibrados SA in 1997.
