ENGIE said Wednesday it took a major step in developing energy services in Latin America by acquiring IMA Chile through ENGIE subsidiary Cofely.
The acquisition will make ENGIE, a leading provider of industrial services for maintenance and solutions to major customers in the mining and energy industry, the Chilean leader in energy services with $71 million U.S. of yearly revenues and 1,700 employees, serving more than 200 customers in mining, energy generation, industry, retail, and health sectors.
The acquisition, along with existing energy operations, will allow ENGIE to provide multitechnical services in the commercial and industrial sectors.
Since 1982, IMA has developed two main services for industrial customers: maintenance in the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation fields by enhancing the reliability of their plants; and solutions in the automation, electrical control and instrumentation fields.
The company has generated revenues of approximately $38 million U.S. in 2014 with its team of 1,200 employees.
