LAVCA and Wharton to create first Latin American private equity professional development program

The Latin American Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (LAVCA) and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania announced a partnership to create the first Latin America private equity professional development program on Friday.
   
The project began after LAVCA noticed the need among Latin American private equity industry practitioners for hands-on learning. The program is expected to help the industry to continue to grow.

“The private equity industry in Latin America has grown dramatically over the last decade and this program represents a critical support to developing the universe of top private equity professionals active in the region,” LAVCA President Cate Ambrose said. “Wharton’s credibility alongside their diverse and global academic staff make them the ideal partner for this initiative.”

The initiative, which is unique among educational programs, leverages personal experience of the industry’s most experienced deal makers, while course content is driven from case studies of real contracts.
  
“The combination of Wharton faculty with real life cases from fund managers on the ground in Latin America makes this program unlike any other that is available to practitioners in the region,” Wharton School Senior Fellow Stephen Sammut said.

The program will take place Nov. 16-19, 2015, in Miami, Florida.
