On June 1, Yusen Logistics S.A. DE C.V. expanded its operation by opening two additional offices at the Mexico City Airport.
The automotive industry and imported freight operations have grown rapidly in Mexico, creating a need for better detailed transportation management. This is why Yusen Logistics has established a kind of “Customs office” to service air import in the Mexico City Airport’s free trade zone.
Previously, the company operated via an agency. Changing to internal operations management will allow the company to smoothly apply a variety of transportation controls, including maintaining efficient customs clearance, checking freight status and overseeing the loading of trucks.
This move allows the company to establish its presence at the base of the airport’s front lines, enabling Yusen Logistics to closely manage its air transportation operations. The company seeks to further competitive freight procurement as well as detailed transportation management of both exported and imported freight.
To further encourage improvements in this area, the airport has opened a “cross-dock office” specifically for air export just outside of the Mexico City airport. Now that Yusen Logistics can handle its own negotiations with airline freight charges and air waybill, the company can offer competitive freight charge procurement as well as a better quality of transportation operation.
