Latin American and Caribbean Solar Alliance launched

Conergy, a global solar company based in Germany, and NEXTracker, a U.S. solar tracking company, recently launched  the Latin America and Caribbean Solar Alliance (LACSA).

The alliance aims to spur initiatives among solar industry professionals in Latin America and the Caribbean, and present a unified voice to advance solar industry goals in the region. LACSA members hope to initiate support for policies that further solar deployment.

LACSA will have four main activities: sponsoring ongoing Latin America-focused solar events across the globe; underscoring practical knowledge from Latin American experts at solar industry conferences; facilitating online knowledge and content sharing forums; and conducting education and advocacy programs.

The alliance's nine-member board of directors hopes to support further solar photovoltaic (PV) deployment in Latin America and the Caribbean.

"This is an extraordinary time for solar growth in Latin America; the PV pipeline is huge," NEXTracker Chief Operating Officer Marco Garcia said. "LACSA will enable us to be proactive – collaborating to sow the seeds for solar to flourish in the region. We look forward to active industry participation that’ll bring broader PV deployment to fruition."

LACSA will host an event moderated by Adam James of Greenwich Media at next week's SPI 2015 event in Anaheim, California.
