Z-Wave frequency approved in 23 new territories

Sigma Designs, a provider of Z-wave technology, on Tuesday announced the availability of approved Z-Wave frequencies by the governments in 23 new territories in Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

"We have established these frequency approvals through the local regulatory bodies in the region and are thrilled to finally bring Z-Wave to these markets," Sigma Designs' Z-Wave business unit Vice President Raoul Wijgergangs said. "The demand for Z-Wave products and services has grown rapidly in many of these areas and we hope these approvals will spur tremendous growth in their respective smart home and automation markets.”

The rapid increase of the Z-Wave standard across the globe has amplified demand for frequency availability in new regions. With the recently announced milestones of 40 million Z-Wave IoT devices shipped worldwide and 1,350 certified devices, the Z-Wave continues to lead the smart home and lifestyle security markets.

Creating the approved frequencies allows IoT manufacturers to bring Z-Wave products to these new markets. The addition of these approved frequencies brings the number of countries and territories where the Z-Wave wireless standard is available to 86.
