The Coordinación Zonal 4 of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture presented its 2025 accountability report on April 1 at the Paulo Emilio Macías auditorium of the Technical University of Manabí in Portoviejo. The event was attended by public and private officials, teachers, students, and members of the community.
Maximiliano Núñez Tomaselli, Zonal Coordinator for Zone 4, said that the national government under President Daniel Noboa Azín has strengthened the education system by prioritizing access to schooling, student retention and completion rates for children and young people. Núñez Tomaselli said these efforts also focus on improving educational quality, increasing teacher recognition, and strengthening institutional structures.
“Among the main actions implemented in 2025 in Manabí and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas is infrastructure investment exceeding $15 million,” Núñez Tomaselli said. He explained that this investment benefited seventy educational institutions and over forty-one thousand students across both provinces.
He reported that spending on school uniforms reached $6.8 million to support more than two hundred five thousand students. “A total of two million six hundred nineteen thousand two hundred fifteen textbooks were distributed to two thousand two hundred fourteen schools in Zone 4, benefiting basic education and high school students. Through the ‘Todos al Aula’ program, six hundred twenty students were reintegrated into initial levels or completed unfinished schooling,” he said.
Payments were made to four thousand six hundred thirty-three scholarship recipients for a total amount exceeding $1.9 million dollars to ensure continued enrollment and timely use of public funds. Nutrition programs provided fresh meals with an investment above $2.4 million dollars for three hundred forty-six thousand four hundred twenty-two students at over two thousand schools in Manabí and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas.
Núñez Tomaselli added that thirty-eight thousand four hundred eighty-seven students graduated from high school during the academic period from 2025 to 2026—expanding opportunities for higher education or technical training.
At the end of his remarks, awards were given to outstanding students, teachers, and staff who contributed significantly to strengthening local education systems.
According to organizers, this annual process aims at transparency between state institutions and citizens while encouraging participation in monitoring how public resources are managed.
