The Coordinación Zonal 3 of the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture presented its results for the year 2025 on Apr. 1, outlining achievements in infrastructure, inclusion, educational quality, and opportunities for students in Chimborazo, Cotopaxi, Pastaza and Tungurahua.
The annual report is intended to promote transparency in public management and highlight efforts made to improve education services across the region. According to Olger Mariño, coordinator of Zona 3, “this space not only shows results but reaffirms the vocation for service of a system that works every day to transform lives, generate opportunities and build a fairer future for girls, boys, adolescents and young people.” Mariño said there is an ongoing commitment to strengthen management with responsibility and innovation while promoting policies that support inclusion and quality education.
In terms of infrastructure during 2025, maintenance work was carried out at 36 public institutions benefiting over twelve thousand students. The Integral Restructuring Project led to new classrooms and sanitary facilities as well as playground equipment at various schools. More than one hundred twenty-one thousand students received intercultural uniforms; computer equipment was delivered to many rural schools; nearly fifty million school meals were distributed throughout more than one thousand institutions.
Efforts were also made toward inclusive education through alternative learning modes serving almost thirty thousand individuals. Reintegration programs identified hundreds of children returning to school while early childhood initiatives benefited thousands more.
Human resource management included relocating teachers closer to their homes and providing digital identification cards for nearly twenty thousand educators. Social welfare facilitated urgent transfers due to health reasons while compensation payments supported retirees.
Cooperation agreements with other organizations helped expand educational programs further into communities. Scholarship programs awarded thousands with opportunities for continued learning or higher education studies; technical institutes merged resources after regional restructuring.
Sports initiatives such as “Actívate” promoted participation among youth while safe community projects aimed at creating respectful environments within schools continued their development this year.
