Visa Inc. announced last week that Eduardo Coello has been appointed group executive for the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region, effective Sept. 1.

Coello, a 15-year veteran of Visa, will report to Ryan McInerney. He will be responsible for all of Visa’s operations in the region including regional business development and client relationship management with financial institutions, merchants and partners across 44 countries in LAC.

“I couldn’t be more pleased to see Eduardo Coello continue to lead Visa’s growth for LAC,” Eduardo Eraña, current group executive for Visa LAC, said. “With his deep knowledge of the region, strong client relationships, proven industry expertise and passion for innovation, he is the right leader to grow the business and further extend Visa’s leadership position.”

Coello has served as group country manager for the Greater Latin America and Caribbean region since 2013. Prior to group country manager, he held several leadership positions including country manager for Visa’s Mexico operations.

“These are exciting times for our business to continue expanding in the Latin America and Caribbean region,” Coello said. “I’m honored to continue to drive Visa’s growth, deepen our client partnerships and take advantage of the many opportunities before us. We have exciting plans to advance our innovation agenda, launch new products and services and expand our financial inclusion efforts, which will ensure Visa’s continued leadership in the region well into the future.”
