The Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional Sathya Sai, located in the Sucre canton, received several awards at the fourth edition of the “El valor de hacerlo bien” short film competition. The event was organized by the Mesa Nacional de Educación en Valores and the Festival Intercolegial de Cine (FIC), with support from the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture and the Prefecture of Guayas.
This year’s competition featured 67 short films produced by students from 129 educational institutions across 41 cities and localities in Ecuador. The initiative aims to encourage audiovisual production as a teaching tool to promote values such as respect, responsibility, empathy, and coexistence. Through filmmaking, students presented creative projects addressing social issues, school experiences, and reflections on their environment.
Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional Sathya Sai was nominated in several categories for both organizing bodies. The institution won Best Short Film for its entry “Juega Limpio,” receiving medals, recognition certificates, and three tablets.
The school also received special mentions for Best Educommunicative Campaign on TikTok with “Después del colegio ¿Qué?” and Best Documentary Short Film with “Raíces y Semillas.”
At FIC specifically, out of six categories where it was nominated, Sathya Sai won the Premio a la Alegría. This included an official festival trophy, two books, and a financial incentive intended to support new student projects.
School director Rosa Zambrano River said: “Nuestros estudiantes han demostrado que el arte y la educación pueden ir de la mano para transformar realidades. Estos reconocimientos reafirman que cuando se trabaja con valores y propósito, los resultados trascienden las aulas.”
The project had support from Instituto Tecnológico Latinoamericano de Expresiones Artísticas-LEXA and Hostería Sainanda during its creative process.
With these achievements, Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional Sathya Sai continues its commitment to value-based education that integrates art and cinema as tools for building citizenship.
