Uruguay is set to highlight its food and beverage export capabilities at Anuga 2025, an international trade fair held biennially in Cologne. The event gathers major global industry players and serves as a meeting point for international buyers and decision-makers.

The Uruguayan delegation is coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Uruguay XXI, which oversee export promotion and investment attraction efforts. Their national stand will present both export products and the expertise of companies with established international operations.

Participating companies include Dambo, known for industrializing and exporting high-purity rice; Frocom, a mill specializing in the Olimar rice variety; La Trigueña, which produces crackers, cookies, breadsticks, and breadcrumbs; and TechnoBeef Meat Experts, which uses precision technology to assess meat quality. These firms demonstrate Uruguay’s range from rice—over 90% of which is exported—to beef recognized for quality and traceability, as well as processed foods targeting demanding markets.

According to the organizers: “Uruguay is a global leader in sustainable food production and processing. With 93% of its land suitable for agriculture, the country produces food for over 30 million people and has the capacity to supply 20 million more. Rigorous food safety standards, strict health controls, and the adoption of cutting-edge technology have secured the presence of Uruguayan products in the world’s most demanding markets, from Europe to the United States and Japan.”

Uruguay offers sustainable production methods alongside competitive access to raw materials. Its business environment features trading hubs, regional distribution centers, manufacturing options supported by tax incentives, institutional stability, and significant use of renewable energy (99%). This setup positions Uruguay as a strategic hub in South America with preferential access to a market of approximately 400 million people.

“Uruguay’s production model is built on sustainability, full traceability, and respect for the environment and animal welfare. With an agro-industrial sector that represents 80% of the country’s goods exports, Uruguay is consolidating its position at Anuga 2025 not only as a supplier of safe and nutritious foods but also as a trusted partner for importing, investing, and forging new international growth opportunities,” organizers stated.

Anuga 2025 provides Uruguay an opportunity to demonstrate its focus on producing quality food products while maintaining innovation within a reliable business framework.
