The Unidad Educativa Pedro Moncayo N.º 82, located in Bajo de Afuera in the Montecristi canton, has undergone significant renovations aimed at improving learning environments for its students. The project, funded with an investment of $98,000, included upgrades to classrooms, laboratories, and sanitary facilities. These improvements benefit students from early education through seventh grade.

Renovation work covered seven pedagogical classrooms, two initial-level classrooms, a laboratory, an administrative room, and the construction of new sanitary facilities. Additional maintenance included plastering and painting walls, repairing metal grilles, installing rainwater drainage systems, replacing floors in affected areas with ceramic tiles, and making specific adjustments for early education levels.

Maximiliano Núñez Tomaselli, Zonal Coordinator 4 of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture said these efforts are part of the ministry’s ongoing commitment to student well-being. “Each renovated space is another opportunity for our children to learn safely and comfortably. We continue working so that Montecristi has educational institutions that meet the aspirations of its students,” he stated.

Student Samir Lucas expressed appreciation for the improved facilities: “We are happy because our classrooms now look nicer and more comfortable. Thank you for caring about our school and improving the places where we learn every day.”

Axel Burgos, principal of the institution, emphasized how these changes support teaching quality: “This comprehensive maintenance strengthens pedagogical work and allows us to offer better conditions so that our teachers and students can carry out their activities with quality and safety.”

The Ministry reaffirmed its intention to continue investing in educational infrastructure across Ecuador to ensure all children have suitable spaces for learning and development.
