Twin newborns have been discharged after spending 66 days in the neonatal unit at the Hospital General José María Velasco Ibarra in Tena. The twins were born at 33.1 weeks of gestation and required specialized medical care and ongoing monitoring from birth.
During their hospital stay, the twins received comprehensive care from a multidisciplinary team that included specialist doctors, nursing staff, and support professionals. The hospital reports that this coordinated effort ensured timely, safe, and compassionate treatment.
Paola Rodríguez, a pediatric specialist involved in their care, stated: “Queremos entregar a sus hijos en buenas condiciones, agradecer por el sacrificio que usted ha hecho en darles apoyo” (“We want to return your children to you in good condition and thank you for the sacrifice you have made in supporting them”).
The mother of the twins, María Grefa, expressed her gratitude to the healthcare workers and the institution: “Agradecer, en primer lugar, a Dios por este día maravilloso, pues me estoy yendo con mis dos gemelitos, agradecer a las doctoras, a las enfermeras y a todo el hospital.” (“First of all I thank God for this wonderful day because I am leaving with my two little twins; I thank the doctors, nurses and all the hospital staff.”)
Hospital officials state that this case demonstrates their commitment to neonatal care by prioritizing quality service and protection of life from its earliest stages.
The Ministry of Public Health reiterated its mission to provide responsible health services with dedication and teamwork while supporting families during important and sensitive times.
