The Vice Minister of Rediex, Javier Viveros, presented the Paraguay 2X plan to European Union trade attachés in Paraguay. The meeting included advisors from several European countries and aimed to outline a roadmap for Paraguay’s sustainable economic growth.
Vanessa Mock, Head of Trade and Economy at the European Union Delegation to Uruguay and Paraguay, led the meeting. The technical team from the Delegation included Kirsti Ala-Mutka, Head of Cooperation, and Verónica Gauto, Press, Policy, and Information Officer. Alejandra Moreno, Senior Sectoral Development Specialist, represented Rediex during the presentation.
Vice Minister Viveros explained that the Paraguay 2X plan is an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Its goal is to double national exports over the next ten years and achieve double-digit economic growth. According to Viveros, “the plan proposes a comprehensive strategy to diversify the production matrix, strengthen strategic sectors such as forestry, agro-industry, technology, and services, and boost innovation and competitiveness of Paraguayan companies in international markets.”
The event reinforced cooperation with the European Union and created opportunities for dialogue about investment prospects and sustainable development. Representatives from Europe emphasized Paraguay’s role as a potential strategic partner within Mercosur-EU relations. They also confirmed their interest in supporting projects that encourage productive transformation and international integration in Paraguay.
