Rediex and Synex Co. Ltd. have taken steps to deepen their collaboration for the establishment of a medical device manufacturing plant in Paraguay. The development comes as part of an official mission to South Korea, where Javier Viveros, Vice Minister of Rediex, and Jimmy Kim, Senior Export Specialist, visited Synex’s headquarters.
During the meeting, officials discussed updates on investment incentive programs such as the High Technology Goods Assembly Law. These measures are intended to support Synex’s expansion and assist its transition from consulting and distribution activities to full-scale industrial operations within Paraguay.
Synex President Young Kim has secured permanent residency in Paraguay as part of efforts to open a local office. In her recent visit to Paraguay, she met with representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) and expressed intentions “to establish a medical device manufacturing facility and initiate import and distribution operations for the local and regional markets.”
Looking ahead, Synex aims to begin manufacturing products in Paraguay during a second phase. This strategy is designed to supply both South and Central American markets. The initiative is expected to strengthen Paraguay’s healthcare industry ecosystem by creating skilled jobs and decreasing reliance on imported goods.
Synex brings more than two decades of experience in the sector, with connections to over 8,000 Korean companies involved in pharmaceuticals and medical devices. This positions the company as an important partner for advancing high-tech industry development in Paraguay.
The visit highlights ongoing government support for this project through Rediex and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Officials stated their commitment “to support this process, providing technical advice and facilitating access to the existing regimes that promote the establishment of innovative and high value-added industries in Paraguay.”
