A new Ludobiblioteca has been inaugurated at the Presidente José Luis Tamayo Educational Unit in Daule, Ecuador. The initiative aims to strengthen learning and promote reading habits among children and youth in the area.
The project is a collaboration between the public and private sectors, managed under the Ludobibliotecas project by Unidos por la Educación. It aligns with Ecuador’s National Policy for the Promotion of Reading, Orality, and Access to Books (2024-2030).
The infrastructure and equipment for this Ludobiblioteca required an investment of $76,630.69. Funding was provided by Corporación El Rosado, Banco Internacional, Promesa, Agrogana, Plapasa, Corporación Favorita, and Fundación Favorita. These contributions were made possible through a tax incentive from the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture that allows for 150% deductibility on income tax for sponsoring cultural projects.
The educational community in Daule now has access to a modern space designed to benefit 1,622 students and 68 teachers directly.
Reading mediation programs will also be introduced in this space to help develop cognitive, emotional, and creative skills through playful and interactive methods.
“The Minedec together with Unidos por la Educación (UxE) reaffirm their commitment to encourage the community to create and be part of proposals that recognize reading as a fundamental right, strengthening inclusive and creative educational spaces for our children,” stated representatives from both organizations.
