Petrobras has announced the opening of more than 700 positions for young apprentices across 13 states and the Federal District. The initiative is part of the Petrobras Jovem Aprendiz Program, which aims to support social inclusion and help young people enter the job market through professional training. Registration is free and will be open from October 6 to October 12 on the program’s website at https://jovemaprendizpetrobras.gruposeres.com.br.

The company stated its continued commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in this edition of the program. New selection criteria have been introduced, including quotas for specific groups and a scoring system that prioritizes adolescents and youth facing vulnerability or social risk. According to Petrobras, “there is a reservation of 30% of vacancies for Black, Indigenous, and quilombola individuals; 20% for people with disabilities; 15% for adolescents who are former child laborers or victims of conditions similar to slavery; and 10% for adolescents in institutional care or serving socio-educational measures.”

Opportunities are available in several cities, including Manaus (AM), Salvador (BA), Fortaleza (CE), Linhares (ES), Vitória (ES), Betim (MG), Juiz De Fora (MG), Recife (PE), Curitiba (PR), Natal (RN), Canoas (RS), Aracaju (SE), Cubatão (SP), Mauá (SP), Paulínia (SP), Santos (SP), São José dos Campos (SP), Duque de Caxias (RJ), Macaé (RJ), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), São Gonçalo (RJ), Brasília (DF) and Três Lagoas (MS).

The program will last 21 months and includes basic professional learning courses as well as technical courses. Petrobras partners with SENAI to offer a total of 30 vocational courses—18 at a basic level and 12 at a technical level—distributed among 39 classes.

Courses offered cover areas such as instrumentation, industrial electricity, maintenance mechanics, logistics assistance, construction management assistance, building electrician work, hydraulic plumbing, building construction, boiler assistant work, welding, administrative assistance, IT technical support among others. Technical courses include industrial automation, electrotechnics, mechatronics, mechanics, industrial machinery maintenance, industrial instrumentation, systems development, petrochemicals, logistics management operations technician work as well as renewable energy systems.

Applicants must be between ages 14 and up to a maximum age of 21 years and seven months at the time of registration. There is no upper age limit for applicants with disabilities. Those who have not completed high school must prove enrollment and attendance at school; their chosen apprenticeship course should not overlap with their school hours.

The learning schedule consists of four hours per day from Monday through Friday—a total of twenty hours per week. Apprentices will receive signed employment contracts with full minimum wage pay plus transportation vouchers; they are also entitled to annual bonuses known as “13th salary,” paid leave (“férias”), FGTS benefits—the national workers’ severance fund—and may optionally join additional pension plans or participate in physical activity programs offered by Petrobras.
