The “Lima Roadmap Forum: Technology and Innovation to Promote a Transition to Economic Formalization” was held at the College of Engineers of Peru. The event aimed to develop practical solutions to help more Peruvians gain access to inclusion, credit, and security in their economic activities.
Ambassador Renato Reyes Tagle, Peru’s Senior Official to APEC from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated, “The Lima Roadmap is a valuable contribution of Peruvian foreign policy to the Asia-Pacific region by encouraging the transition of informal economic actors toward formality and their integration into the global economy.”
The opening ceremony included Edwin Chávarri, Dean of the Lima Departmental Council of the College of Engineers; Santiago Rojas, Regional Manager North and CAF representative in Peru; Emilia Paz, Director of Perú SV; and Víctor Muñoz, Alternate Senior Official for Peru at APEC. Minister Muñoz closed the forum.
Ambassador Reyes emphasized the need for digital financial inclusion strategies. He said these strategies would allow small business owners, merchants, and independent workers access to modern and secure tools. According to him, this would support business growth and improve family livelihoods.
The forum featured four thematic panels on technology and innovation for formalization. The main panel was titled “Lima Roadmap for Promoting the Transition to a Formal and Global Economy (2025-2040): Presentation of the Document and Special Monitoring Mechanism in Peru.” Participants included Ana Sofía Rodríguez, Vice Minister for Women and Vulnerable Populations; Yolanda Erazo, Vice Minister of Labor from the Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion; and César Quispe, Vice Minister for MYPE and Industry from the Ministry of Production.
According to organizers, this initiative reflects Peru’s commitment to working with regional partners and international stakeholders on public policies that provide more development opportunities for Peruvian families.
