The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) announced Wednesday that it will launch its first annual conference for Spanish-language journalists in 2016.

The NAHJ is working in collaboration with Hispanicize 2016 to coordinate a weeklong track of Spanish-language journalism sessions. The first conference is scheduled for April 4-8 at the InterContinental Hotel

in Miami. Hispanicize 2016 will also host its Hispanic Journalist Showcase with English-language sessions on media entrepreneurship and social media in the newsroom.

“We had a great response from our members to NAHJ’s expanded role in programming at the Hispanicize event this year,” NAHJ president Mekahlo Medina said. “This partnership will expand our efforts to meet the professional development content needs of many Spanish-language journalists.”

The conference is expected to be attended by more than 3,000 Spanish-language journalists, including some of the most influential Latino professionals in the industry. The event is designed to be a launch pad for creative endeavors, new products and technologies targeting Latinos in the United States and Puerto Rico.
