The Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health, organized an inter-school competition called “Quién Sabe-Sabe en EIS” as part of the Andean Week for the Prevention of Teenage Pregnancy. The event took place on November 20, 2025, at the Coliseum of Unidad Educativa Teodoro Gómez de la Torre.
The competition aimed to strengthen comprehensive sexuality education (EIS) by promoting informed decision-making and preventing teenage pregnancy through educational and participatory activities. Eight schools participated in the contest, with Unidad Educativa Ibarra, Unidad Educativa Teodoro Gómez de la Torre, and Unidad Educativa María Angélica Idrobo from Ibarra reaching the finals.
About 1,000 spectators attended the event, supporting their peers and enjoying dance and music performances. The winners were recognized as follows: first place went to Unidad Educativa María Angélica Idrobo, second place to Unidad Educativa Teodoro Gómez de la Torre, and third place to Unidad Educativa Ibarra.
The winning team included Samantha Delgado, Camila Urbano, Noemi Arias, and Cristopher Urcuango from first-year high school. They expressed their gratitude to their school’s DECE team as well as both ministries for organizing the competition.
The Ministry thanked all participants and reiterated its commitment to continue working on teenage pregnancy prevention through education, awareness-raising efforts, and improved access to health services.
