The Minister of the Interior, Diego Santilli, met with the governor of Corrientes province, Juan Pablo Valdés, as part of the national government’s ongoing federal agenda with provincial leaders. The meeting took place at the Government House in Corrientes.
Both officials highlighted joint efforts between the national government and the province. They also agreed on the importance of Congress approving labor reform legislation.
Santilli stated, “No governor can be against a law that seeks to generate private employment, increase productivity and investments for the provinces and Argentina.”
Valdés said, “We have to modernize our labor system. It is highly positive that modernization of labor is being discussed without putting workers’ rights at risk.”
He added, “There is a commitment from the national government for growth in the labor market. This is new regulation that aims to create more jobs going forward.”
During their discussion, Santilli informed Valdés that the national government will send ATN funds totaling 3 billion pesos to Corrientes. This financial assistance responds to requests made by local authorities due to flooding affecting municipalities such as San Luis del Palmar, San Roque and Santa Lucía.
