The president of the Judicial Council (CJ), Mario Godoy, visited Loja province to open the first Legal Research Conference organized by the School of Judicial Function. The event aims to support legal education and promote research with a focus on human rights and gender issues.
The conference is designed to raise awareness, prevent, and address structural and symbolic violence within both judicial and social contexts. It aligns with national actions led by the CJ in recognition of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, observed annually on November 25.
During his speech, President Godoy said that topics such as protecting women and girls at risk, restorative justice, and challenges in digital environments require thorough analysis, inter-institutional coordination, and decisive action to ensure effective justice.
“The investigation is not a complement; it is an institutional policy that guides the transformation of the judicial system. Today, more than ever, we need prepared public servants who are sensitive and have a vision for the country,” he stated.
Godoy also delivered a presentation titled “Administrative protection measures as prevention tools in cases of gender-based violence.” He discussed current regulations, including the Constitution and comprehensive legislation aimed at preventing and eradicating violence against women. He addressed challenges in applying protective measures as urgent tools to safeguard victims’ integrity.
His agenda included technical visits to Loja’s Criminal Judicial Unit and General Archive. There he spoke with judicial staff, reviewed processes, and gathered feedback to improve institutional management.
President Godoy also met with Loja Prefect Mario Mancino to discuss possible cooperation agreements. These include plans to install a Gesell chamber in Calvas canton and enhance justice system operations across Loja province.
