The National CREA Fair has once again served as a platform for academic engagement, research, and creativity among students in Ecuador. Organized by the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture, the event aims to promote innovation and project development among students from upper basic education and high school levels.
The 2025 edition took place at the Technical University of Ambato. The fair welcomed projects created in classrooms from public, private, municipal, and religious-affiliated schools. Student projects highlighted environmental responsibility, innovation, social impact, and knowledge ownership. Students presented their work as both authors and spokespersons.
This year’s fair saw notable achievements from Manabí province. In the humanities category, Unidad Educativa Fiscomisional Juan Montalvo won first place with its project “From Paper to Sound: Recycled Tunnel Book with Literary Spotify and Creative Podcast.” The project was recognized for its creativity, educational impact, and sustainable approach. As a reward for their achievement, team members were awarded a trip to the Galapagos Islands.
In the technology category, Escuela de Educación Básica Fiscomisional La Dolorosa Fe y Alegría N.-1 secured third place with its project “Robotics with Intelligence and Awareness,” reflecting student interest and skills in STEAM fields.
Student Matthew Palma Villegas commented on his experience: “Participating in the CREA fair helped me improve a lot as a team. Each stage was a challenge but also an opportunity to improve. Hearing that we got first place was incredible—the confirmation of all our work, hours of practice, and ideas that were worth it.”
Another participant, Doménica Cevallos Mero said: “The competition was an unforgettable experience. All the effort dedicated to our project was completely worth it. We were nervous but also proud of what we had achieved. We felt joy, relief, and enormous pride. This participation allowed us to broaden our vision, strengthen critical thinking skills, and better understand how to contribute to our educational community’s well-being.”
The Ministry acknowledged the commitment shown by students, teachers, and families involved in transformative educational projects. According to the Ministry: “The National CREA Fair continues to establish itself as a space that inspires young people to become agents of change and protagonists of the country’s future.”
