Majestic Semillas, an agricultural sales and distribution company providing services in Mexico, said its recent acquisition by Chromatin, an agriculture technology company that specializes in sorghum, will allow

Majestic Semillas to begin testing several new hybrids

that are tolerant of the sugarcane aphid.

“It’s Chromatin’s R&D leadership that is enabling us to meet critical market needs, such as products that survive the sugarcane aphid that is affecting so many sorghum farmers,” Majestic Semillas Business Manager

Rebekah Napier said. “Thanks to Chromatin’s work in this area, we are in widespread testing of new hybrids with very good aphid tolerance and expect to bring them to market next year.”

Majestic Semillas, previously called Marathon Ag Services, provides sorghum farmers in Mexico with high quality service as well as seed. Growers have seen benefits of the pipeline and its new products, which are specialized for the varied growing conditions located in Mexico.

“We are excited to add Majestic Semillas to the Chromatin family,” Chromatin President and CEO
Daphne Preuss said. “We are committed to developing improved hybrid seed products for higher yields. We are pleased to work with a team that shares this commitment, and we look forward to bringing products and production advice to farmers throughout Mexico.”
