The IRONMAN 70.3 event in Encarnación, Paraguay, has been awarded the Country Brand license, a recognition of its significance as a promotional platform for the nation. This follows the footsteps of the IRONMAN 5i50 in Encarnación, which received similar endorsement in April. The triathlon drew 10,000 visitors and generated an estimated $17 million economic impact.

The official presentation of the license occurred at La Matrix Ueno Bank with IRONMAN 70.3 officials and representatives present. Event organizers Rodrigo Larrea and Víctor Heredia, along with Juan Lichi, municipal councilor of Encarnación, received the license from General Manager Alison Townsend.

Joanna Jordan, Vice President and General Manager for Latin America at The Ironman Group stated: “We are excited to bring the IRONMAN 70.3 series to Paraguay for the first time… This new chapter reaffirms our confidence in Paraguay’s potential to become a world-class sporting events hub.”

The competition includes a 1.9-km swim, a 90-km bike ride, and a 21.1-km run through Encarnación’s waterfront and Paraná River landscapes. It is expected to boost local tourism and economy while promoting national pride and athletic development.

This licensing underscores Paraguay’s capacity to host international athletes and promotes values such as perseverance and sporting excellence. The alliance positions IRONMAN 70.3 Paraguay as an ambassador for enhancing international visibility and promoting major sporting events in the country.
