Children from the Gustavo Darquea Terán Basic Education School visited the Ludobiblioteca in Loja, an initiative developed by the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture. The visit included activities such as face painting, storytelling, and singing related to the Christmas season.
The students explored the library’s collection and took part in interactive sessions aimed at encouraging reading habits. Verónica Patiño, a reading mediator at the Ludobiblioteca of the Museo de la Cultura Lojana, said: “What we want is to encourage children to read and engage with art, as well as motivate them to learn more about books; we know that from a young age we are like sponges and through these spaces we are promoting a love for reading.”
Nancy Vargas, leader of Gustavo Darquea Terán School, expressed appreciation for these initiatives: “Reading is fundamental for children’s cognitive and creative development; therefore it is important to have this ludobiblioteca in our city and take advantage of it to reinforce reading habits.”
As part of the event program, the Governor’s Office of Loja organized activities for younger students and invited citizens to visit the Ludobiblioteca. The facility features over 206 new books, educational materials, musical instruments, and pays tribute to Ecuadorian artist Eduardo Kingman. It aims to provide an enriching environment for children and youth.
The Ludobiblioteca operates from Tuesday to Saturday between 9:00 am–12:00 pm and 2:00 pm–5:00 pm.
