The government of President Daniel Noboa has announced that the Capacity and Competency Evaluation for applicants to public technical institutes and conservatories will take place from February 10 to 12, 2026. The Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture is leading this process, which aims to measure the skills of those seeking technical and technological education.

Applicants are required to visit www.registrounicoedusup.gob.ec to check their assigned date, time, and location for the evaluation. “It is the responsibility of each applicant to arrive punctually at the designated location in order to guarantee their participation in this stage of the process,” according to the ministry.

This year, an estimated 53,872 candidates are expected to participate. More than 300 locations across Ecuador will host the exams in person. In addition, five consular sites will be available for citizens living abroad. The process also includes special arrangements: five centers within prisons and six centers for juvenile offenders have been set up with support from SNAI so that people deprived of liberty can take part.

The evaluation lasts 60 minutes for most candidates. Those with disabilities will have up to 120 minutes and may be accompanied by interpreters or assistants as needed. Applicants must answer 40 questions designed to assess numerical, verbal, and logical reasoning abilities.

“With this action, President Daniel Noboa’s government reaffirms its commitment to strengthening technological higher education by offering young people an academic alternative with short-duration programs and high job placement rates,” stated officials.
