Roberto Kury, Ecuador’s Minister of Telecommunications and the Information Society, is part of the official delegation accompanying President Daniel Noboa Azín on a visit to the United Arab Emirates. The visit includes participation in activities focused on technology.
Kury will attend the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2026 in Dubai from February 3 to 5. The event, held under the theme “Shaping Future Governments,” brings together over 35 heads of state, 150 governments, and 6,000 leaders. Topics at the summit include artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability, economics, and governance.
During the summit, Kury will announce Ecuador’s first national AI strategy. He will present 21 areas of action aimed at ensuring responsible and ethical use of AI in Ecuador. According to the ministry, “The head of MINTEL will announce the global launch of Ecuador’s First AI Strategy, where he will share the 21 lines of action for responsible and ethical use of this technological tool in the country.”
Kury is also scheduled to meet with Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE’s Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications. Both officials are recognized as special delegates for digital transformation topics.
Additionally, Kury will take part in a panel titled “Pathway to Zero Bureaucracies,” which focuses on innovative government processes intended to improve public services. He is expected to participate in a high-level roundtable called “New Ecuador High-Level Meeting” and hold meetings with representatives from UAE technology companies.
