The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) in Ecuador has launched an international bidding process to acquire heavy machinery, including loaders, excavators, and dredgers. This initiative is part of the Emergency Resilient Reconstruction Project, which is funded by the World Bank. The goal is to strengthen the country’s ability to respond to emergencies, maintain road infrastructure, and prevent flooding along the national road network.
According to MIT, the new equipment will be used for timely interventions in critical areas, river cleaning and channeling, as well as road maintenance work. These efforts aim to ensure connectivity, safety, and continuous transportation services, especially in vulnerable regions.
The procurement process will follow the World Bank’s Open/International market approach using a One Stage–Two Envelope method. This procedure is intended to ensure transparency and encourage participation from specialized suppliers worldwide.
Key dates for the bidding process include a deadline for submitting offers on December 23, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., with a public opening of technical bids scheduled for December 23 at 12:15 p.m. in MIT’s auditorium in Quito. Electronic submissions are not allowed. Offers must be delivered to the Ministry’s office located at Juan León Mera N26-220 and Av. Orellana in Quito.
