Ecuador is taking part in the World Governments Summit 2026 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The event brings together global leaders to discuss public management and address challenges in education, governance, innovation, digital transformation, and global health.
The Ecuadorian delegation is led by President Daniel Noboa and includes ministers and senior state officials. They are participating in discussions aimed at building international partnerships for sustainable development and raising Ecuador’s profile on the global agenda.
Gilda Alcívar García, Minister of Education, Sport, and Culture, represented Ecuador as a panelist in “Investing in Our Digital Future and Youth” and joined the discussion panel “Who Shapes the Classroom of the Future?” Other participants included representatives from Egypt’s Ministry of Education, Stanford University, Hong Kong University, UNESCO Director General Khaled El-Enany, and UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell.
The panels discussed the role of human-centered artificial intelligence in education’s future. Topics included personalized learning, creativity, ethics, educational equity, and public policy’s role in balancing technological innovation with responsible regulation while maintaining the human aspect of education.
Minister Alcívar García also took part in the roundtable “The New Ecuador,” along with President Noboa and cabinet members. The session focused on how Ecuador is moving into a new phase of development through digital, energy, economic, social, and institutional transformation. The minister emphasized that education, culture, and sport are key drivers for social cohesion and change.
“These international spaces allow us to coordinate visions, strengthen cooperation between countries and project an educational policy oriented toward the future and sustainable development of Ecuador,” said Minister Gilda Alcívar García.
Additionally, Minister Alcívar García has scheduled meetings with her counterparts from Chile and Poland as well as representatives from Google. These talks aim to reinforce partnerships supporting digital transformation in education for children and youth across Ecuador.
Ecuador’s participation at this summit underscores President Noboa’s commitment to modernizing education to create real opportunities for future generations while positioning Ecuador as an active player in shaping its own development path.
