The National Government of Ecuador, together with private companies, is working to support formal employment, sustainable urban development, and economic growth. The Chamber of Construction of Cuenca has announced the 24th Construction, Housing, and Decoration Fair, scheduled to take place from March 27 to 29, 2026.
Daniel Elmir, Vice Minister of Sustainable Urban Development and Housing, and Paolo Carpio, Vice Minister of Transport Infrastructure, attended the launch event. The fair brings together more than 150 companies including real estate developers, construction firms, suppliers of products and services, financial institutions, professionals, and academics.
Carpio commented on the importance of continuity for the event as it reaches its 24th edition. He said this platform serves as a meeting point for builders, financiers, and those seeking to own a home.
Elmir pointed out that Cuenca leads the country in terms of formal employment within the construction sector. He added that more jobs are being created under current regulations and that companies are committed to high-standard projects. “We have more than USD 500 million allocated for Miti-Miti credit; this is how we want to serve you and strengthen citizens’ trust in the construction sector,” said Elmir.
As part of their visit to Cuenca, the vice ministers toured three housing projects in the southern part of the city: Luma condominiums, Firenze III, and Altos del Río. These developments are under construction and will provide 71 housing units with an investment exceeding USD 7.8 million while generating 500 formal jobs.
The National Government reiterated its commitment to work alongside the private sector to promote access to adequate housing, employment opportunities, and sustainable economic development.
