The National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) has released its preliminary Technical Bulletin on Colombia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for the third quarter of 2025.
The quarterly national accounts provide a summary of economic conditions, connecting basic statistical indicators with major macroeconomic aggregates. These accounts follow international measurement standards set by the United Nations and the International Monetary Fund.
According to DANE, the technical bulletin aims to present key short-term changes in quarterly GDP. The figures are used by analysts, policymakers, media, business leaders, and the general public for decision-making. The document is divided into three chapters: results from chained volume series with 2015 as the reference year from both production and expenditure perspectives—including gross value added; analysis of GDP at current prices; and details on revisions made during the year compared to previous publications.
In the third quarter of 2025, Colombia’s original series GDP grew by 3.6% compared to the same period in 2024. The sectors contributing most to this growth include:
“Public administration and defense; compulsory social security plans; education; human health care activities and social services grew by 8.0% (contributing 1.3 percentage points to annual variation).”
“Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; transportation and storage; accommodation and food services grew by 5.6% (contributing 1.2 percentage points to annual variation).”
“Manufacturing industries grew by 4.1% (contributing 0.5 percentage points to annual variation).”
Further details can be found in DANE’s full report.
