Authorities from Chile’s tourism sector have officially launched the 2025-2026 summer season under the slogan “Your summer starts here.” The event took place at Santiago’s Metropolitan Park and was led by acting Undersecretary of Tourism Felipe Abarca and Sernatur’s national director Cristóbal Benítez.
During the launch, officials highlighted a general overview of the tourism sector, noting its recovery in recent years and sharing projections for international tourist arrivals in the upcoming season.
Felipe Abarca stated, “Last year we already had good news because we managed to consolidate the recovery of tourism after the pandemic, with growth close to 40% compared to 2023. For this 2025, the estimates are even more positive: we project closing the year with an increase of around 15% compared to 2024.”
Regarding foreign visitor arrivals, Abarca added, “We estimate the arrival of about 2.6 million foreign tourists during these four months (December – March), a figure very similar to last year’s, which had already represented a significant increase. This confirms that we are consolidating recovery levels in the sector and that tourism continues reaching all corners of the country, bringing very good news for Chile.”
To encourage domestic travel, Sernatur is promoting its campaign ‘Chile es Tuyo, tu verano empieza aquí.’ Cristóbal Benítez said, “Through our campaign, we want to invite all Chileans to travel around our country during this high season. We have already seen more than a 25% increase in searches from those planning their next vacations; that is why our invitation is to visit our website: www.chileestuyo.cl, where you can find all kinds of activities, events, beaches, national parks and places for camping throughout Chile.”
As part of this seasonal launch, two new web series were introduced: ‘Santiago con ojos de turista’ and ‘Chile secreto,’ both designed to promote local attractions and destinations. Benítez explained that through these series people will be able to discover top places in Santiago with influencer Andrei Sokolov and explore destinations across Chile with digital creator Carmen Cabezas.
