The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 25, the latest version of one of Brooks’ most recognized running shoes, has been reviewed by Marathon Sports’ footwear experts. The shoe, which has a long-standing reputation for support and stability, features several updates in its 25th iteration while retaining core elements that have made it popular among runners.
According to the review team at Marathon Sports, the new Adrenaline GTS 25 offers increased cushioning with a stack height of 37 mm in the heel and 27 mm in the forefoot. The midsole uses Brooks’ nitrogen-infused DNA Loft v3 foam, designed to provide a firm yet stable ride suitable for those who prioritize ground feel and stability over plushness.
The upper part of the shoe is constructed from a soft, breathable mesh that consists of more than 66% recycled materials. Additional cushioning has been added along the tongue and heel collar, and a stretchy heel tab is included for convenience. While the shoe fits true-to-size, some runners with wider feet may find the toe box narrow; however, wide width options are available.
Support is further enhanced through GuideRails technology—medial and lateral reinforcements intended to reduce excess overpronation without interfering with natural movement. “You can think of GuideRails like bumpers on a bowling alley – they’re there for reinforcement if necessary, but won’t overcorrect or feel too intrusive. Our reviewers really appreciate this extra touch of support without the stiff or overly obtrusive feel that often comes with more traditional forms of stability in running shoes,” stated Marathon Sports’ review team.
The shoe’s geometry includes a 10 mm drop from heel to toe—a decrease from previous versions but still among the higher drops available on the market. This design aims to offer more impact absorption for heel strikers but may not suit those who prefer lower-drop footwear.
In terms of durability and value, despite an increase in price to $155 compared to earlier models, reviewers found that the thick RoadTack rubber outsole contributed to longer wear life and improved traction across various surfaces such as wet roads and light trails.
During road testing on different terrains including snow-covered paths and treadmills, reviewers noted that “the unique support system felt like it stabilized our feet without being too stiff or obtrusive.” They also observed that additional cushioning provided a slightly softer ride than prior models—an aspect appreciated during longer runs.
However, some drawbacks were identified: “the extra weight and cushioning resulted in a heavy, bulky feel that was particularly noticeable on uptempo runs or speed workouts.” Additionally, certain testers found the DNA Loft v3 foam firmer than other daily trainers currently available.
The review concluded that while not every runner will find this model ideal—especially those seeking lightweight shoes or softer midsoles—the Adrenaline GTS 25 remains well-suited for beginners who overpronate or anyone needing reliable support in their daily trainer. “Long-term Adrenaline wearers will be thrilled to know that Brooks maintains the no-frills approach that made this shoe such a fan-favorite in the first place,” said Marathon Sports’ team.
For those interested in alternatives with similar support features but different design philosophies (such as lower drop or wider toe boxes), competing models like Altra Experience Form were suggested. Runners wanting even more plushness might consider other supportive options within Brooks’ lineup such as the Glycerin GTS 22.
Marathon Sports encourages customers unsure about fit or model choice to visit their stores for personalized fitting services: “Whether you end up in a shoe from Brooks or any of the other high-quality brands we carry, our team is dedicated to helping you find the perfect running shoe to guide you towards all your goals.”
