A group of businesspeople from Santa Catarina, Brazil, visited Paraguay to assess potential investment opportunities. The delegation was accompanied by the Paraguay-Brazil Chamber of Commerce (CCPB) and met with officials at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), including Javier Viveros, Vice Minister of Rediex.
The visit followed a recent trade mission by Vice Minister Viveros to Blumenau and Joinville in Brazil, where he established connections with local businesses. The Brazilian investors aimed to understand Paraguay’s special regimes and competitive advantages as they seek strategic partners for production optimization.
The meeting included participation from Gustavo Giménez, Vice Minister of MSMEs; Jimmy Kim, Senior Export Specialist; and Carolina Vergara, General Manager of CCPB. The business leaders explored market conditions, identified opportunities, and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
Congressman Matheus Cadorin, representing Santa Catarina, said: “We came to see if everything they say about Paraguay is true, and we are very pleased with what we have seen so far, because we realized there is a much clearer path forward here in Paraguay.” Thiago Raitez, COO of Father Group, added: “We are very impressed. We see an opportunity to invest here in Paraguay and ensure that companies can truly focus on the bottom line.”
Discussions also covered the development of startups and technology hubs in Paraguay. Officials highlighted government-driven entrepreneurship legislation that provides seed capital funds and venture capital schemes. According to the Vice Minister of MSMEs, these initiatives make Paraguay attractive for innovation and investment.
Vice Minister Viveros encouraged businesspeople to consider regions beyond Alto Paraná—currently home to most maquiladora companies—pointing out favorable conditions across the country for establishing operations and forming strategic alliances.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce along with Rediex reiterated their commitment to promoting trade missions and business meetings aimed at strengthening international cooperation. They aim to position Paraguay as a reliable destination for foreign investment while supporting national industry growth.
