A joint operation by the Joint Command of the Armed Forces and the National Police of Peru led to the destruction of a clandestine drug laboratory and the seizure of 240 kilograms of cocaine in the Valle de los Ríos Apurímac, Ene y Mantaro (VRAEM) region. The action aimed to strengthen territorial control and security in an area known for illegal drug activity.

The operation took place near Paltaypampa, located in La Mar province, Ayacucho region. Authorities destroyed and incinerated a rustic clandestine laboratory used for processing cocaine alkaloids as well as a decantation pool on site.

In addition to seizing 240 kilograms of cocaine alkaloid, officials confiscated 685 kilograms of both regulated and unregulated chemical supplies, along with 3,910 kilograms of coca leaves undergoing maceration.

The intervention was carried out by two Special Operations Groups from the “La Oroya” N° 34 Counterinsurgency Battalion of the Army’s 2nd Infantry Brigade, working in coordination with Palmapampa’s DEPOTAD-PNP.

According to officials, “With this action, the National Government, through law enforcement agencies, reaffirms its firm commitment in the frontal fight against drug trafficking, weakening illegal drug production chains and directly affecting these organizations’ logistical capacity.”
