Greek mezzo-soprano Alexandra Gravas has released a new single, “El Cóndor Pasa,” presenting the iconic Peruvian melody in both Greek and Spanish for the first time. Gravas, who is recognized as a Cultural Ambassador of Greece, said the release pays tribute to Peruvian culture.

Gravas has performed in over 20 countries at venues such as Alte Oper Frankfurt, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and Teatro Municipal de Lima. Her career includes collaborations with composers like Mikis Theodorakis and she was awarded the UNESCO Prize of Greece in 2017. In 2021, her album “El Amor Es Vida,” which features Latin American songs in Spanish, received an award from La Razón of Mexico.

The new single was recorded with Polish pianist Józef Olechowsky and Mexican composer José Luis Guzmán. The arrangement uses piano and electronic effects to highlight Gravas’s voice. The interpretation merges Peruvian and Greek musical traditions.

According to the announcement, this version brings intensity and emotion while honoring Peru’s cultural heritage. The release is supported by the Embassy of Peru in Greece as part of efforts to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.
