Southern Silver Exploration Corp. on Thursday

announced results from its core drilling program at the Cerro Las Minitas Project in Durango, Mexico.

According to the company, four holes drilled in the area showed indications of mineralization that is polymetallic in nature and consists of silver, lead and zinc. With these reports, the company plans to continue its exploration and definition drilling activity.

The site is located approximately 42 miles northeast of the city of Durango and encompasses approximately 13,640 hectares. The area is within the “Belt of SIlver” — an area in north central Mexico that has a significant silver reservoir with an estimated 3 billion ounces produced or within its reserves.

The company began exploring at the site between 2010 and 2012, and has conducted over 15,510 meters of core drilling activity in 62 core holes. It’s reported two silver-polymetallic deposits and many other potential locations.

Exploration and mining operations at the site are funded through an agreement with Electrum Global Holdings LP.
