The Sociedad Rural Argentina announced on Apr. 2 the death of Hugo Luis Biolcati, who served as president of the organization from 2008 to 2012 and was recognized as a prominent agricultural producer with a particular interest in dairy farming.
Biolcati’s passing is noted by the institution as a significant loss, given his leadership during important moments for the agricultural sector. The organization said he was committed to upholding values central to agricultural production and played an active role during key events such as the conflict over export taxes in 2008.
According to Sociedad Rural Argentina, “Su liderazgo, convicciones y vocación de servicio dejaron una huella imborrable en nuestra institución.” The statement also highlights that Biolcati held various positions within the group throughout his career, including vice president, director, and director of press and its magazine Anales. Most recently, he contributed through his work on the board of directors at the foundation associated with Sociedad Rural Argentina.
Colleagues who worked alongside Biolcati recall not only his determination and abilities but also his personal qualities and dedication to defending and promoting Argentine agriculture. “Quienes compartieron con él su paso por la SRA destacan no solo su capacidad y determinación, sino también su calidad humana y su dedicación a la defensa y promoción del campo argentino,” according to Sociedad Rural Argentina.
