Sierra Wireless reports its first integrated service platform that brings together cloud, Internet of Things (IoT) hardware and managed connectivity services for worldwide deployments is gaining traction on industrial applications for multiple organizations.

The device enables global multi-operator coverage by linking Sierra Wireless and users, all managed from a single unified connectivity platform.

Veolia Water Technologies U.K., specialists in pure water systems and process water solutions, is one of the platform users.

“In previous projects, we have worked with different vendors to integrate diverse components into a unified solution, a process which took considerable time and effort,”

Veolia Water Technologies Operational Excellence Director Laurent Hanique said. “Sierra Wireless was able to offer us a complete solution, already pre-integrated and tested. This simplified the process and significantly reduced the development time in getting our Vision Air service to market.”

The startup Nube uses the cloud-based IoT to monitor the gas level and consumption. The startup has developed an IoT subscription-based solution that registers the tank level and conditions, order refills, completes payments and analyzes data from the connected tanks throughout Mexico and Latin America.

“Large or small and across multiple geographies, we are finding that companies offering IoT products and services have similar needs,”

Emmanuel Walckenaer, senior vice president for cloud and connectivity for Sierra Wireless, said.
