The Servicio de Rentas Internas (SRI) announced on Mar. 27 that 97,699 taxpayers, representing 13.6% of those required, have not yet submitted the Personal Expenses Annex for the fiscal year 2025.
This issue affects a total of 713,611 individuals who are obligated to file. Of these, SRI reported that 469,123 people (65%) met the deadline while another 146,779 (20.5%) filed late.
SRI is urging taxpayers who have not complied or who submitted after the deadline to regularize their situation voluntarily before control processes begin. The tax authority noted that fines for late submission range from USD 30 to USD 45 if resolved voluntarily before any official notification from SRI. Otherwise, penalties can reach up to USD 90.
To help with this process, taxpayers can check their pending obligations through SRI en Línea at www.sri.gob.ec by logging in and accessing their tax status section. Fines can be paid online via “Declaración de Impuestos” and “Elaboración y envío de declaraciones,” using the “Formulario Múltiple de Pagos” and code 8001 for late submission penalties; the system will automatically calculate the amount due.
SRI reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening tax culture and called on citizens to fulfill their fiscal responsibilities promptly and responsibly.
