The Servicio de Rentas Internas (SRI) announced on March 17 that it has sent more than 600,000 persuasive notifications to taxpayers across the country during the first two months of the year. These communications are intended to give recipients an opportunity to review their tax information and correct any errors or settle outstanding obligations.
The SRI said these alerts are part of its prevention mechanisms designed to encourage voluntary compliance with tax duties. The agency noted that responding promptly can help taxpayers avoid penalties, fines, or more rigorous audit processes.
Taxpayers are advised by the SRI to take specific actions upon receiving such notifications. The agency emphasized that addressing these communications could be the difference between voluntarily correcting a mistake and facing a formal control process.
The SRI also reminded citizens that official notifications are sent from the domain controlsri@infosri.gob.ec. It stressed that it never requests confidential information or cash payments, urging taxpayers to use only official SRI channels for communication.
Looking ahead, the SRI continues its efforts to facilitate voluntary compliance and prevent unnecessary sanctions through timely communication with taxpayers.
