Sempra Energy said on Tuesday that it has secured a new natural gas transportation contract in Chihuahua, Mexico, through the company’s Mexican unit, Infraestructura Energética Nova, S.A.B. de C.V. (IEnova).

The contract, granted by the Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE), outlines the project, which includes a pipeline extending 14 miles with a 1,135-million-cubic-feet-per-day (Mcfd) natural gas capacity. A header facility will handle 3 billion cubic feet per day (Bcfd) of natural gas.

The purpose of these new pipelines is to offer natural gas throughout the Norte III Combined Cycle Power Generation Plant. It will connect with Samalayuca-Sasabe, Gasoductos de Chihuahua, and Tarahumara pipelines.

The project, estimated to be worth $108 million, should begin in 2017’s first quarter.

“This award demonstrates IEnova´s capacity and experience to generate value through our projects,” Carlos Ruiz Sacristán, chairman and CEO of IEnova, said. “We are pleased to contribute to the development of the energy infrastructure of Mexico and continue to strengthen our company´s presence in the country.”

Sempra Energy, a Fortune 500 energy services holding company based in San Diego, made $11 billion in revenue in 2014. It employs 17,000, with a global customer base of 32 million.
