Saucony, a running shoe brand established in 1898, has released the latest version of its popular Ride series. The Saucony Ride 19 continues the tradition of the line, which first launched in 2007 and is known for being a reliable choice among runners.

The Ride 19 is marketed as a neutral daily trainer with moderate cushioning. It features an updated PWRRUN+ midsole foam that aims to provide more softness and responsiveness than previous versions. The shoe’s stack height is now 36 mm at the heel and 28 mm at the forefoot, resulting in an 8 mm drop. The men’s model weighs 8.9 ounces, while the women’s weighs 7.7 ounces.

Other updates include a new engineered mesh upper designed for improved comfort and breathability, along with extra padding around the heel and tongue for additional support during longer runs or extended wear. The outsole uses XT-900 rubber to enhance durability and traction on various surfaces.

According to Marathon Sports’ review team, who tested the Ride 19 across different terrains including snowy conditions in New England, “the new engineered mesh upper felt lighter around the foot, offering a secure, sock-like fit. The extra padding around the heel and tongue was another welcome addition, creating immediate step-in comfort.” They noted that “outside of this improved upper, the shoe felt largely the same as its predecessor,” emphasizing consistency across iterations.

Durability was previously cited as an issue with earlier models due to faster-than-expected wear on cushioning and tread. In response, Saucony added thicker XT-900 rubber coverage to improve longevity: “this protective outsole improves durability and ensures you can enjoy everything the Ride 19 has to offer for even more miles.”

The review also highlighted sustainability efforts by Saucony: “the shoe is made entirely of vegan materials and incorporates recycled materials throughout the design.” The company has been increasing its use of renewable resources in both shoes and packaging.

For runners concerned about fit, reviewers observed that “the fit and tapered design may pose some challenges for runners with wide or high-volume feet,” but noted that wide-width options are available.

In comparison with other shoes on the market such as Asics Gel-Cumulus 27 or Saucony Triumph 23, testers found that while alternatives might offer slightly softer landings or more plushness underfoot, the Ride 19 stands out for versatility and balanced performance suitable for daily training needs.

Priced at $144.95 for both men’s and women’s versions, the Ride 19 positions itself at what Marathon Sports describes as “the more affordable end when it comes to moderate cushion shoes.”

After extensive testing by their team—including daily mileage runs and uptempo workouts—Marathon Sports concluded: “Whether you’re a beginner runner looking for an all-around daily trainer or an experienced athlete looking for a shoe to add to your rotation, the Ride 19 has design features that can benefit nearly any type of athlete.”
