Prime Minister Luis Arroyo led a meeting on April 14 between cabinet ministers and members of the Acción Popular parliamentary group. The purpose was to build consensus before the Cabinet’s presentation to Congress for a vote of confidence scheduled for April 16.
The meeting is part of ongoing discussions with various parliamentary groups, aiming to gather lawmakers’ concerns and present the main management guidelines of the Arroyo Cabinet. These talks began last Friday as part of efforts to promote dialogue across political forces.
“We reaffirm our willingness for open and constructive dialogue with all political forces, with the firm purpose of reaching agreements that contribute to stability and development in the country,” said Arroyo during the session.
Attendees included parliamentarians Carlos Alva, Elvis Vergara, Ilich López, Luis Aragón, Juan Carlos Mori, Silvia Monteza, Edwin Martínez, and Marleny Portero. Ministers from several key portfolios—Economy and Finance; Energy and Mines; Women and Vulnerable Populations; Interior; Transport and Communications; Housing, Construction and Sanitation—were also present at the meeting.
According to government statements during these sessions, such meetings underscore the executive branch’s commitment to democratic dialogue and building consensus among state powers. The goal is to advance measures that benefit citizens in a context requiring responsibility and coordinated work between branches of government.
